AJet is the low-cost airline of the Turkish Airlines group. It started life in 2008 as AnadoluJet, a brand inside Turkish Airlines, and has flown as AJet, a separate airline wholly owned by Turkish Airlines, since spring 2024. Its hubs are Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen (SAW), Ankara Esenboğa (ESB) and Antalya (AYT). According to AJet’s own figures, it flies 118 aircraft to 106 destinations in 36 countries: 39 in Türkiye and 67 abroad.
AJet sells fares as packages. The cheapest ticket can be very cheap, but it includes very little, so it pays to know what each package covers before you book. This guide covers AJet’s fare packages, baggage allowance and cabin bag size, check-in times, food on board and ways to keep the total price down. All figures come from AJet’s published rules as of September 2026. AJet changes its fees and allowances fairly often, so check the fare details on ajet.com, or the summary shown when you book, before you pay.
AJet Fare Packages Explained: Basic, EcoJet, Flex and Premium
On international flights and flights to Ercan (Northern Cyprus), AJet sells four packages: Basic, EcoJet, Flex and Premium. Domestic flights within Türkiye have three: Basic, Flex and Premium. The main differences are baggage, free seat selection, the change and refund rules, and whether a snack is included.

*The allowance depends on the route. Some packages get more on certain routes: 30 kg on Flex and Premium to and from the Gulf, Jordan, Lebanon and Egypt (Hurghada and Sharm El Sheikh), up to 40 kg on Premium to Cairo and Algiers, and 25 kg on EcoJet and Flex (30 kg on Premium) for some round trips from Western Europe to Istanbul or Ankara. Cairo flights don’t sell EcoJet, and Basic on that route includes 30 kg. The allowance shown in your booking is the one that applies. For Basic, EcoJet and Flex fares, the change penalty depends on the fare class you booked and how close to departure you change.

Which AJet package should you choose?
- Basic suits short trips when everything fits in a small bag under the seat.
- EcoJet suits most holiday travellers on international routes. It adds a full-size cabin bag and a 20 kg checked bag, but no free seat choice and no refund. The EcoJet package fee is non-refundable.
- Flex has the same baggage as EcoJet on most international routes and adds a free standard seat. On some routes its checked allowance is higher. Despite its name, changes on international Flex tickets still carry penalties.
- Premium is the only package with fee-free changes and refunds (made more than 2 hours before departure). It also gives the largest baggage allowance, any seat, and a sandwich.
AJet Cabin Baggage Allowance and Dimensions
AJet has two carry-on allowances: an underseat bag and a cabin bag.
- Underseat bag (personal item): one piece, max 40x30x15 cm and 4 kg, included in every package. Examples are a handbag, a laptop or tablet bag, a small camera, or an umbrella without a pointed tip.
- Cabin bag: one piece, max 55x40x23 cm and 8 kg, for the overhead bin. It is included in EcoJet, Flex and Premium on international flights and in all domestic packages.
Since 16 December 2025, the Basic package on international and Ercan flights includes only the underseat bag. Tickets issued before that date keep their original allowance unless you change them yourself. A Basic passenger can add a cabin bag during booking, afterwards in Manage Booking, or at check-in. The price is per flight, so a round trip costs twice. AJet’s fee table from July 2026 lists €15–€18 per flight online, in the app or through an agency (depending on the country), and €25 at the airport.
Watch out for the gate fee. AJet checks bag size and weight at boarding. A bag that is too big, or an extra bag, goes in the hold for a fee: €50 per item on international flights, 1,600 TRY on domestic flights and 1,800 TRY on Ercan flights. This applies even if you already have a checked-bag allowance. Buying the cabin bag online before you fly costs much less.
Other points worth knowing: suit carriers (114x60x11 cm) count as cabin baggage, and duty-free purchases don’t count towards the underseat allowance. The usual liquid rules apply: containers of 100 ml or less in one clear, resealable bag of up to 1 litre.
AJet Checked Baggage and Buying Extra Baggage
On international routes, checked baggage comes with EcoJet, Flex and Premium (usually 20, 20 and 25 kg). Basic includes none. On domestic flights, every package includes checked baggage (15, 20 or 25 kg). Infants get 10 kg. No single bag may weigh more than 32 kg.
If you need more, buy extra baggage on ajet.com or in the AJet app. The cheapest prices are online and at least 3 hours before departure. For Basic passengers on international flights, AJet’s July 2026 fee table lists 0–10 kg for €12 and 11–20 kg for €20–€37 online, depending on the country. Airport and call-centre prices are higher. Extra baggage is charged per flight, so on connections you pay for each segment. Unused extra baggage bought outside a package can be refunded or changed up to departure. If you arrive with less weight than you paid for, the difference is not refunded.
Sports equipment isn’t part of the free allowance and is charged separately. Musical instruments and baby strollers have their own rules, so check AJet’s baggage page if you’re travelling with either.
AJet Online Check-in and Airport Check-in Times
Online check-in
- Opens: 24 hours before departure, on ajet.com or in the AJet mobile app.
- Closes: 90 minutes before departure for both domestic and international flights. Local rules can change this.
- Cost: check-in itself is free. Only seat selection costs extra, unless your package includes it.
- You can check in everyone on the same booking. Online check-in, mobile boarding passes and kiosks aren’t available at every airport. AJet’s airport status table shows what each airport offers.
- Some add-on services can stop online check-in. If it won’t let you check in, go to the counter early.
Airport check-in
- Counters close 45 minutes before domestic flights and 60 minutes before international flights. Some airports close earlier. At Algiers (ALG), check-in runs from 3 hours 30 minutes to 1 hour 30 minutes before departure.
- AJet recommends arriving 2 hours before domestic and 3 hours before international flights.
- Be at the gate at least 20 minutes before departure. At some terminals the walk to the gate can take up to 25 minutes.
- Self-service kiosks are available at major airports such as Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen, Ankara and İzmir. Passengers with bags use the kiosk and then a bag drop point.
Does AJet Provide Free Food?
No, not in most packages. AJet is a low-cost airline, and its support team has confirmed that there is no free catering on domestic or international flights. Snacks, meals and drinks can be bought on board by cash or card.
There are two exceptions:
- Premium package: includes a sandwich if you book more than 24 hours before the flight. Premium bought within 24 hours of departure is cheaper and comes without the sandwich.
- Pre-ordered meals (international flights): you can buy a meal on ajet.com, in the app, through the call centre or an agency, up to 24 hours before departure. Pre-orders are not available on some routes.
How to Book AJet Flights and Find Cheap Fares
You can book on ajet.com, in the AJet app, through the call centre or a travel agency, or by comparing prices across airlines with a flight search site such as FlyNero. These tips help keep the total cost low:
- Compare the full price, not the fare. A Basic fare plus a cabin bag and a checked bag can cost more than EcoJet. Add up the extras for your trip before you pick a package.
- Buy extras online, early. Cabin bags, extra kilos and meals cost least on the website or app. The most expensive option is paying at the gate.
- Book on ajet.com or the app. AJet charges no service fee for bookings or changes made online. The call centre charges one (for example, 30 USD per international booking).
- Use the free 24-hour window. If you booked on the website or app, you can change or cancel once for free within 24 hours of buying. The window is shorter if you fly soon: 60 minutes when departure is 24–72 hours away, and 30 minutes when it is under 24 hours away. You still pay any fare difference.
- Consider the free cancellation add-on. On Basic, EcoJet and Flex you can add a “Free Cancellation or Change Right” at booking. It is sold up to 24 hours before the flight and costs from €4.99 per person per one-way international flight. It allows unlimited free changes, and cancellations up to 12 hours before departure, but it can’t be added later.
- Be flexible. Midweek and off-peak flights, booked well ahead, are usually cheapest. Compare Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen with other airports and dates.
- Check for discounts. AJet offers reduced fares on some routes for students, children, people with disabilities, and veterans’ and martyrs’ relatives, with documents shown before the flight.
AJet Flight Delayed or Cancelled?
If your AJet flight is delayed, cancelled or overbooked, you may be owed free meals, rebooking, a refund, and in many cases cash compensation. Depending on the route, this can be up to €600 under EU261 or Türkiye’s SHY-YOLCU regulation. Which rules apply depends on where you fly from. Our guide to AJet flight compensation and your passenger rights covers delays, cancellations, overbooking and refunds, and how to claim.

The cabin bag limit is 55x40x23 cm and 8 kg. You can also bring one underseat bag of up to 40x30x15 cm and 4 kg. On international flights, Basic fares include only the underseat bag. EcoJet, Flex and Premium include both.
What is the EcoJet baggage allowance on AJet?
EcoJet includes an underseat bag (4 kg), a cabin bag (8 kg, 55x40x23 cm) and a checked bag, usually 20 kg. On some round trips from Western Europe to Istanbul or Ankara, the checked allowance is 25 kg. EcoJet is sold on international and Ercan flights, not on domestic routes.
What is the AJet Premium baggage allowance?
Premium usually includes 25 kg of checked baggage on international and domestic flights, plus an 8 kg cabin bag and a 4 kg underseat bag. On some routes, such as Cairo and Algiers, it is higher (up to 40 kg).
What does AJet Flex include?
The Flex package includes an underseat bag, an 8 kg cabin bag, a checked bag (usually 20 kg, more on some routes) and a free standard seat. Changes on international Flex tickets still carry penalties. For fee-free changes, choose Premium, or add AJet’s Free Cancellation or Change Right when you book.
When does AJet online check-in open and close?
Online check-in opens 24 hours before departure and closes 90 minutes before. Airport counters close 45 minutes before domestic flights and 60 minutes before international flights. Check-in itself is free.
Does AJet provide free food on board?
No. Food and drinks are sold on board, and you can pay by cash or card. The Premium package includes a sandwich when booked more than 24 hours ahead. On international flights, you can also pre-order a meal up to 24 hours before departure.
How much does it cost to add a cabin bag to an AJet Basic fare?
On international flights, AJet’s July 2026 fee table lists €15–€18 per flight online (depending on the country) and €25 at the airport. An oversized or extra bag found at the gate costs €50. Always check the current price when you book, because AJet updates its fees.
Is AJet the same as Turkish Airlines?
AJet is a separate low-cost airline that is wholly owned by Turkish Airlines. It has its own fares, baggage rules and check-in, so Turkish Airlines baggage and meal rules don’t apply to AJet flights.
